È venerdì sera e siamo davvero stanchi. Fuori piove e il traffico è in tilt. Vorremmo tanto trascorrere un po’ di tempo con gli amici, quelli che vediamo sempre più di rado, brindare per quel nuovo progetto che ci hanno affidato, ascoltare le loro novità e gustare i nostri piatti preferiti nel ristorante del cuore, dall’altra parte della città.

Ma cosa accadrebbe se potessimo realizzare la nostra cena in un click?
Ora immaginate di incontrare gli amici in un luogo virtuale tridimensionale pervasivo e interattivo, di passeggiare con loro, osservare qualche vetrina e magari comprare quella borsa che vi piaceva tanto (la riceverete dopo qualche giorno), poi entrare nell’esatta riproduzione del locale che avete scelto, accomodarsi, ordinare dal menù digitale ed attendere il delivery, mentre continuate a chiacchierare e a godervi la serata, costellata di stimoli divertenti e possibilità che la “fisicità” non consentirebbe.
Il tutto comodamente da casa.
Fantascienza? No, metaverso: una versione di internet ultramoderna composta da spazi 3D permanenti che andranno a creare un mondo parallelo dove potremo spedire i nostri avatar a fare la spesa, provare un abito, cucinare al fianco di un famoso chef virtuale che ci dedicherà il suo tempo (a pagamento, s’intende!).
L’affare è potenzialmente milionario e sono numerosi i brand – anche del food – che iniziano ad interrogarsi sulla migliore modalità di utilizzo della realtà aumentata per generare esperienze di consumo indimenticabili che superino i limiti del tempo e dello spazio.
Alcuni ambiti di applicazione del metaverso nella ristorazione già si intuiscono: prenotare un particolare tavolino dopo aver effettuato un mini virtual tour, ordinare da menù olografici dinamici, pagare i pasti direttamente in criptovalute.
Il marketing dovrà evolvere ed, in qualche modo, “esserci” potrebbe essere un imperativo, come è stato a suo tempo per i social network.
Ci sono già anche esperimenti ambiziosi come quelli di Chipotle e Pringles: la famosa catena messicana ha scelto Halloween per lanciare il suo ristorante sulla piattaforma Roblox, permettendo, così, ai clienti-avatar di partecipare a piccoli giochi o sfide e vincere coupon per “veri” burrito; mentre l’azienda di patatine ha diffuso un nuovo gusto che mai potremo assaggiare. Si tratta di un “sapore virtuale” in edizione limitata, con tanto di confezione artistica unica, che esiste solo sotto forma di NFT (Non Fungible Token) ed è, a tutti gli effetti, un oggetto da collezione con uno suo valore.
Difficile prevedere quale sarà il peso specifico di questa innovazione, ma c’è nell’aria la forte sensazione che, anche nella ristorazione più tradizionale, una certa “bidimensionalità” potrebbe avere i giorni contati.
Nel frattempo, in attesa che il futuro diventi oggi, si consolida la spinta verso un ripensamento degli spazi fisici: la loro progettazione segue sempre più logiche integrate o olistiche, capaci di coniugare la corsa inarrestabile verso l’omnicanalità e l’utilizzo dei big data con la sicurezza (meglio se invisibile) (approfondisci) e, naturalmente, con tutti quegli elementi comunicativi, tattili e olfattivi (approfondisci) che impreziosiscono, valorizzano e rendono inimitabile l’esperienza diretta in un locale o in un negozio.
